Can you believe it’s already September!? As sad as I am to say goodbye to summer, I’m definitely getting excited for the season ahead. One of my favorite parts of a new season (fall in particular) is adding key pieces to my wardrobe to keep my look current. But it can also be overwhelming because there are so many trends that float around come September.
Here are the trends I’ve seen and that I think will hold some weight this season:
Deep red, oxblood, wine, burgundy, whatever you want to call it, this color is hot this season. It looks equally rich on clothing as well as bags and shoes. It’s neutral enough to create a monochromatic look, but I also love pairing it with white and camel for a crisp and clean look.
Wide Leg Cropped Pants
I’ve seen multiple lines carry this style, and I think it’s a super flattering alternative to traditional denim while keeping the comfort level. Get a pair in black, khaki, olive or even white (ignore the labor day rule) and pair them with flat sandals now, mules when it gets a bit colder and barely-there heels when you want to dress it up for a night out.
Shimmer, shine, sequins, mesh, gold, silver or bronze– if it looks like you could wear it to Studio 54, it’s fair game. Bonus points for something slightly sheer. I love the idea of pairing pieces like this with more substantial knits, like a metal mesh tank over a knit turtleneck.
Plush & Cozy
Whatever you do, make sure you buy yourself something fluffy & comfy this season. Teddy coats, oversize sweaters, and furry bomber jackets are all evocative of the 60’s and 70’s, but feel right at home this season.
I’ve seen everything from pajama style separates to more structured power suits this season. As you’ve probably noticed in previous posts, I love coordinating sets because you can mix and match each piece to get more wear out of them, but I plan to purchase at least one set to rock head to toe!
